CASA TURIRE

This beautiful European style hotel stands just outside Turrialba on its own estate rather like an elegant French Chateaux.

Passing down the long entrance colonnade of majestic palm trees I was surprised to see a horse farm on the right while ducks fluttered and scampered in front of my car to the left. Coming up to the front of the hotel I found an ornamental pond with a fountain set in the midst of a small neatly manicured lawn and, just behind the hotel I caught a glimpse of a very large lake with boats and canoes available for the guests.

The front entrance of the hotel made it clear that I had arrived in a place of peace and tranquility in old European style. A porter met my arrival with a smile of welcome and ushered me in to the reception desk in the front hall. The English speaking staff was efficient and enthusiastic as they pointed out the hotel’s appointments and amenities and showed me to my room. All of the rooms appear to be on the second floor and each has a balcony. The furnishings are reminiscent of a fine European hotel with a lovely tiled bathroom and plenty of closet space.

After checking in I took a few minutes to stroll around the grounds among the various trees and shrubs, which included oranges and grapefruit as well as several bushes with brightly colored and beautiful blossoms.

Passing through the hotel lounge and bar I came to one of the nicest fresh water swimming pools and Jacuzzis I have seen, and it was totally deserted. What luxury and decadence!

Dinner in the evening under the stars was an unforgettable experience with a veritable gourmet menu provided by the French chef. The variety was amazing as were the very reasonable prices. Even the breakfast by the pool was a delightful experience and I look forward to returning to this oasis of civilization in the middle of Costa Rica.
